Takeda Nobumori (????-
1582) was a retainer of the Japanese clan of
Takeda during the earlier years of Nobumori's life during the
Sengoku period to the
Azuchi-Momoyama period of the 16th century. Nobumori was the fourth son of the famous legendary ruler of Takeda,
Takeda Shingen. Following the invasion of the Takeda territory by the
Oda/
Tokugawa alliance, Nobumori initially became the ruler of Takeda following
Takeda Katsuyori's death during the conflict (ending his own life through suicide). While the destruction of the Takeda clan was currently going on, Nobumori fortified himself in the
Shinano castle.
Oda Nobunaga, who had seen this, followed in sending a certain
Buddhist priest to negotiate surrender with Nobumori. However, Nobumori responded by astonishingly cutting off the nose and ears of the priest. Following the subsequent attack at the castle, Nobumori was killed.
